Which is the strongest Facade Tarot card in the deck?

Major Arcana

Which Tarot card can be judged as the best card of the Deck?

This question is often asked by many seekers alongside coming up with their multitude questions pertaining to social, family, romance, work, health and emotional life.

Many a times the best of the cards, in the strongest of the positions have not
given the desired results. In my experience of Tarot reading, I have come across multiple situations when the standard ‘do it yourself’ Tarot guides are unable to decipher the real meaning of a card which seems strongly placed in the Tarot Spread. On the other hand, the otherwise weaklings designate cards may have done wonders to the seeker.

Difference between Major and Minor Arcana explained

Let me first explain the difference between Major and the Minor Arcana. A lot has been written about both; in fact, the internet is replete with enormous material on this classic query.

Major Arcana – An indication of one’s fate, governed by the Ruling class

The Major Arcana is perhaps the most traditional and ancient version of
Tarot. Historically, when Tarot readings became popular, there were only two
classes. The ruling and the ruled. The ruling class decided the fate of their
subjects. If the rulers were humble, the subjects could lead a peaceful life, thanking their benefactors while continuing the ancestral tasks assigned to them.

Despite being benefitted with a good ruler, they were bound by their traditions, culture and the environment which did not allow them to think outside their defined boundaries. They could be bad, good or best in their assigned tasks but were conditioned not to think of taking up work outside their existing domains. This situation went so strong that a normal person born out of a biological mother could never even imagine becoming a part of the rich and powerful nobility, after all noble men were described as gifts from the gods, angels flew them down from the sky, or they appeared from a flash of light.

Major Arcana- Represents factors in control of the destiny

In this concept, the Major Arcana governed the life of the people, and thus it
represented the powers of nobility- The King, the Queen, Hierophant, Chariot
etc. or astral powers-coming from the sky- Stars, Sun or Moon. The life of the
seeker was thus governed by destiny which was being controlled by external powers.

Minor Arcana- Represents the power of Karma

As time passed, the concept of Minor Arcana evolved out of the culture where some people challenged the conventional and trusted their ability. They had the courage to come out of their cocoon and make moves considered unusual in their times, like taking long voyages across oceans, walking thousands of miles to foreign lands for adventure or trade, start new ventures, seeking opportunities which could have arrived out of devastations like a war,
pandemics or floods when the nobility itself came to be on the verge of
extension. Their newfound wealth and power possibly influenced the Tarot readers of those times to add the minor Arcana cards, a representative of one’s Karma, or efforts. In olden days it meant challenging the destiny, and it remains the same in the readings till modern day.

So which card is the most powerful?

The Major Arcana cards broadly represent destiny, things being controlled by the environment, while the minor Arcana cards represent your own effort to change your life, things under your own control.

This uniqueness restraints a Tarot reader from making judgements on a question by looking at a single Tarot card, because both destiny and Karma apply to a living human being, though in differing proportions. I have realized that there are certain all-weather cards, which generally are a harbinger of positive results, the degree of which may however vary depending upon the setup and the position in which they appear.

Is 'Nine of Cups' the card we are searching for?

A good card to possess could be the ‘Nine of Cups’. I have seen that this card is generally beneficial to the seeker. 9 being the highest number of all, when it comes up upright, the cups are full, however here is a catch. 9 of cups can also point towards a celebration, which may lead to the seeker on a high thus ending into an unpleasant situation, if the other cards are not supportive.

 What about the 'World Card'?

In the Major Arcana, it is the World Card which by my experience is good to own, especially if the seeker is looking for opportunities in work, and the seeker
is looking for a change of place.  In romance there is a catch though, it
might indicate separation due to long voyage of the seeker’s partner, while at
the same time, it may represent meeting a new partner in some other corner of
the world.

So many possible Tarot combinations!

Tarot reading thus throws up a challenge of endless possibilities across a multitude of card combinations where one negative card may play a positive role or the vice versa. Similarly, a card appearing reverse reduces the negative impact of another card in the spread, while an otherwise good upright card may enhance the issues arising out of the combination of other cards.

I have tried to answer the question in as simple a manner as possible. Sometimes I feel that a good Tarot reader is one who can find a 'Cosmos in the Chaos'. It is the story which gets created upon observing the sequence of cards in the spread which matters the most rather than an individual card.

Search for the possibility in the impossibility continues!
